Nintendo Cuts Wii Price to $129.99 USD Before Wii U Launch

The new $129.99 USD bundle will be available through much of the U.S. starting October 28

Nintendo will be releasing a whole new Wii bundle in time for the holiday season, and it will only cost $129.99 USD.

The new bundle will feature a black Wii console along with matching black Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk controllers. It will also include both "Wii Sports" and Wii Sports Resort" games on one disc. The sports games include a variety of options like bowling, tennis, baseball, basketball, etc.

"Nearly six years after it launched, people are still attracted to the pure, inclusive fun of the Wii console," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "A new suggested retail price and the inclusion of two great games make it an easy choice for families looking for a great value this holiday season."

The new $129.99 USD bundle will be available through much of the U.S. starting October 28.

The price slash comes nearly a month before Nintendo plans to release its new Wii U console, which is due out in the U.S. November 18. There will be a basic model for $299.99 and a premium model for $349.99. The new system offers features like 2GB of memory, 1080p graphics and a new Wii U GamePad controller.
