How the iPad Mini Stacks Up Against the iPad

Apple unveiled the iPad Mini, a smaller version of the iPad, at a press event today.

The iPad Mini has a 7.9-inch screen with a 1,024 by 768-pixel display. The iPad Mini also uses an A5 chip, which is the same chip that’s used in the iPhone 4S. The iPad Mini that has 16GB of storage starts at $329.

The price is quite a step above some of the existing tablets in that size range. The 7-inch Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD tablets can cost $199.

Apple also updated its iPad line-up with a 4th generation iPad. The new iPad has an A6X chip — so it’s faster than the iPad Mini and the last-generation iPad. The most recent iPad had a 2048-by-1536 pixel “Retina” display resolution.
