NEW Photos! Details of Revell's '48 Ford Chopped Custom-Navarro heads/intake/fadeaway fenders/dropped F&R Suspension, et al

Here's some more from Revell's new '48 Ford Custom Chopped Five Window Coupe.  Revell designed this kit to include only speed and custom equipiment that would have been available up until the mid-1950's.

Let's start with a look at the Navarro finned aluminum cylinder heads and Navarro intake manifold - to the best of my knowledge, this is the first time that specific Navarro parts have been included in a 1/25th scale kit.   The heads have been accented with Tamiya Flat Red brush paint, thinned with 90% rubbing alcohol, to fully show the engraved details.   The intake was painted with Testors Magnesium Metalizer. i

The carbs are crisply molded.  The air cleaners are the same "bell" type that were included in the Revell '49 Merc Custom kit a couple of years ago.

Hear are both the stock and the new, dropped front axle beams.  Both are in the kit.

And here you can see the new dropped rear radius rods compared to the stock rear radius rods,  which serve to lower the ride height a scale 2-3".  With these new front and rear suspension parts, you no longer have to go through the lowering steps I showed in my Scale Auto article (the dark blue '48 Ford convertible) a couple of  years ago.

Now let's look at those new fadeaway side fenders.  Here they are glued  in place with white (non-styrene) glue to show you just how well they fit.  I did no modifications or fitting prior to gluing them in place....

For a general overview of the kit, see my earlier post in this same Forum Folder, or check out my Fotki site at the link here, http://public.fotki.com/funman1712/new-first-look-reve/new-first-look-reve/   which has 56 photos of the entire kit, which should be available in hobby stores by late Setember, 2011.

Thanks for looking....TIM
